Hello again September

One year ago today, I made an apple and blackberry pie! Today (by total accident) I did the same. There is nothing quite like an apple and blackberry pie made with handpicked fruit. This time I stewed the apples before baking and that made them slightly less firm than they were a year ago. We don't often eat desserts and puddings in our house, as sugar isn't something, I feed the kids regularly. However, there is nothing wrong with a little treat every now and then. Plus, we have to make use of all the blackberries in the garden! I used this Jamie Oliver recipe to make the pie.
I love lazy Sunday mornings that turn into days. I cooked a roast dinner while James watched football and the boys played games with their Granny. I have been so lucky to maintain a great relationship with my ex-husband’s mum. She is absolutely wonderful with the boys and I don't know what we would do without her. Luke has enjoyed being spoilt with attention and I have loved seeing them play together. Things happen in life that you don't expect, but I am a big believer in making the most of a tough situation, despite my finding it very hard sometimes. At the end of the day, I am a mum and I will do what is best for my boys. You have to take yourself out of the equation and be selfless. Luckily, that is quite simple with my mother in law and she’s a truly wonderful and understanding women, that I look up to.
Luke’s little peas were absolutely delicious. We podded them while the others played Rummikub (a firm favourite in this house). This afternoon I manged to sneak away and edit some on the hundreds of photos that I have taken over the last few weeks. All while trying to prepare for school and University starting this month. Summer has flown by, but I am looking forward to getting back into our routine.
Big love,
